"It can be overwhelming not knowing anyone and finding the right class to invest in. So naturally I went on Yelp and found Keep it Real Acting and let me tell you THE 5 STAR RATINGS DO NOT LIE.After years of theatrical/improv training I was looking for an on-camera class and this was the place to go. I took the 6 week A-Z commercial acting class taught by Judy Kain (who has been in 400+ commercials and TV shows so when they say "those who can't do teach" 100% doesn't apply here). The class was extremely fun and inviting and I looked forward to it every week. That class made me look forward to Mondays. So if nothing else in this review speaks to you, that should. Judy went over everything we could encounter during a commercial audition, with some very helpful tips as well. Every week we went home with a flash drive (which you can bring or purchase for $15) so we can see what we did. The last class is always run as a callback and Judy brings in an agent to watch. In LA it can be near impossible to get an agent's attention especially if you're new, but take a class from Judy and you might just get signed. Oh and people who come to Keep It Real BOOK! So you come out of the class feeling really confident, but I never realized how successful Judy's training was until I saw my classmates come in week after week booking. Even the guy who didn't really know what he was doing at first came back the 2nd week with 2 commercials. So I'd say these classes are really worth the investment- not to mention it's run by some of the nicest people you'll meet in the industry." -Andrea L.

"A beginning actor, there are still many things I haven't the experience to speak to with any certainty, so I am very happy to have had my first with such a great team as Keep It Real Acting! I first heard about their classes through Backstage.com, as they had won a handful of "Best of 2015" awards. I did some research, popped over to their website and found mention of Freebie Fridays, a totally free 20-minute commercial session with acting coach Judy Kain. I called to schedule a spot, making a friend right then and there over the phone as I talked with Jessica. So far, so great! I showed up that Friday a little nervous, but I was distracted by how much fun I was having just filling out a form and chatting with everyone in the office. If I had any butterflies left by the time I was called in, then the engaging, fun, and honestly informative twenty minutes that followed freed them to fly away-- Judy killed it, and this was before I even knew what "killing it" meant. Focused but loose, direct but not cruel, and 100% honed in on anything preventing forward momentum, her teaching style suited me just fine. Long story short, it took less than a half-hour for me to decide where I wanted to take my first class!For the next six weeks, the A-Z Commercial Class with Judy gave me a reason to celebrate Monday nights (they have a daytime class, too). The classes are kept small, which provides a great chance to really get to know other actors of all levels of study, and ensures that everybody gets to cram in as much learning and camera time as possible. By the time I finished the class, I had made a bunch of new friends, had a thumb drive chock-full of my on-camera exercises, about a jillion notes to reference and study, and a real sense of beginning to know what I'm doing, and THAT IS HUGE. ★★★★★ The A-to-Z commercial class is an absolute must for commercial actors. They also have a weekly Wednesday workout that is currently only $35, with no ongoing requirement, an amazing deal. In A-to-Z with Paul Hungerford and Judy Kain there were so many skills I learned that I feel stupid about how I was going out and auditioning before. The very next audition I did after the class was so much more fun and looser, because of the work this class teaches. Commercials give you so little info on just a few lines of copy, and this A-to-Z class tells you how--and that you must--fill in all those questions and blanks in order to act real and have fun, from where you are, who you're talking to, how you feel about it, to technical things like who's in the camera or on the board, and techniques on how best to use the fourth wall---all in order to gain ease and comfort in your process and show the best YOU. Their expertise on buttons and launches is second-to-none, and you get one class devoted to all the improv training you really need to know to commercial audition effectively. Top-notch! The final class was attended by legit agents, so if you are looking that is also helpful. The Wednesday workout class is run by the teachers, but sometimes by managers or other people in the business which is like gold level value to meet them in a relaxed collaborative artistic environment.

"I have been working as an actor in commercials for many years now but know I can always learn more so I invested in Judy's Advanced Callback class. First off let me say Judy is an excellent teacher. Every class you work on camera and Judy coaches you through the copy, making excellent points and giving you ways to perform that you might not have thought of on your own. It makes it so much fun, it's like playing! For those that audition you know this mentality is invaluable, so many people make auditioning a stress and it needs to be more about having fun but alas, that is easier said than done. A class like this has been needed in LA for such a long time. I wish I had, had this information before I did my headshots. My idea was to get a popping color, grandmother wardrobe and look my best and smile. Boy, I didn't realize, you have to put thought, preparation and hard work into pulling off great HEADSHOTS that will get you noticed. Plus at the time, there was no place to go to find out any information or learn what I needed to know before investing in Headshots. I was so green after being gone for so long.
Your class is very important because HEADSHOTS are the link to meeting CASTING DIRECTORS and getting AUDITIONS.
